Pyjama Angel Foundation

The Pyjama Angel Foundation aims to instill a love of learning, confidence, and life skills in foster children through one-on-one mentorship. As a mentor, I have had the incredible opportunity to help a child in our community develop new skills, make mature decisions, and reach milestones. You can find out more about my experiences via this interview and article.

The most vulnerable children in our community face issues such as childhood abuse, poverty, and family breakdown. Over 35% of them will enter the juvenile justice system. And yet, despite this, these children have a strong level of resilience that with the right guidance can support them into becoming productive community members and leaders. In the Toowoomba Region alone, there are 2500 foster children and only 60 odd pyjama angels so please reach out if you would like to join or support us!

Quizmeisters

Each week I host Musical Bingo and Trivia at Mouse Proof Brewery, where I am affectionately known as 'Mr Bingo Man', 'Trivia Dude', and, on the very rare occasion, 'Nicholas'. These are fun and highly interactive shows with dynamic components and themes, it is a great way to get in touch with the local community! It is also a great way to learn, for instance, how to correct my many years of incorrectly dancing to the YMCA.

Active and Public Transport

I am passionate about supporting active and public transport. It is efficient, sustainable, healthy, and fosters stronger social networks. As part of this, I am a member of Toowoomba's Walking Discussion Group and Cycling Discussion Group and regularly attend our Regional Active and Public Transport Advisory Committee (RAPTAC).

German

I have a particular fondness for the German language and devote a significant amount of time towards achieving fluency. I currently speak at the B2 level and practice both by speaking German at home and reading books such as Wir Sind Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo and Emil und Die Drei Detektive.
